Beer Bouquet

Finding a great Valentine’s Day gift for a guy isn’t an easy task.

For men, Valentine’s Day is pretty simple.  The department stores pretty much lay out all of his Valentine’s Day ideas for him.  A bouquet of flowers, a cute stuffed animal, maybe a box of chocolate and of course a mushy card.

All right at the front of the store.

But for us woman, we have to get a little more creative when it comes to picking out a Valentine’s Day present for a guy.

If your Husband is like mine, he would probably be happy with a new video game or some new electronic gadget.  Or maybe a new power tool.  But those types of gifts just don’t seem appropriate for a holiday that’s supposed to be all lovey-dovey.

I mean, how romantic is that new shooter game or a power drill?

Every year I search for the perfect guy gift for Valentine’s Day, just to end up grabbing a box of chocolates and a funny card.

But this year, while I was browsing through the dollar store craft aisle, I saw some old-style metal buckets.  And that was when I came up with the idea for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for a guy.

A DIY Beer Bouquet.

What You Need to Make A DIY Beer Bouquet

DIY Beer Bouquet Supplies

Optional

  • Centerpiece or small bottle of alcohol
  • Tag or card
  • Your guy’s favorite treats

While I think the metal bucket makes the bouquet look more manly, if you don’t luck out finding one, a small basket or gift box would work too.  The Valentine’s Day section of the dollar store is a great place to find some stickers or other craft supplies for decorating, if you don’t want to pay craft store prices.

I used a Valentine’s Day centerpiece from the dollar store for the middle of my bouquet, but as an extra special treat you could swap that out for a small bottle of alcohol.  Or if your man likes liquor more than beer you could skip on the beer and just make an alcohol bouquet instead.

As for those optional extra treats, that’s where you can really personalize it.  For The Husbands bouquet I decided to add some pepperettes, since they are one of his favorite treats.  I figured I should also add something chocolate, so I grabbed a couple of chocolate roses to give it a bit of a romantic touch.

Everything I needed to make the beer bouquet only cost me a couple six packs and less than $10 in other supplies.

How To Make a Beer Bouquet

DIY valentines day idea for him

Putting the beer bouquet (AKA the perfect Valentine’s Day present for a guy) together was really simple and took me less than 30 minutes to do.

Step 1

Decorate your bucket/basket/box or whatever your making your DIY beer bouquet arrangement in.  I started by using the hot glue gun to attach the heart ribbon around the middle, then added a couple of heart stickers above it and a “For my Valentine” sticker in the middle of them.

Step 2

If you were able to find a nice centerpiece for your bouquet (or a small bottle of booze), place it in the middle of your bucket, then arrange the beer around it.  12 beers fit perfectly in my bucket, but if you can’t fit all of yours in, hide the extras in the fridge so your guy will have a cold one ready for him.

Step 3

Use your lace or tissue paper to fill in the empty spots between the beers and the bucket

Step 4

If you bought some extra treats for your bouquet, arrange them around the beers.  If something is too short (like the pepperettes I got were), just tape them to the back of the beer bottles so they will still be visible.

Step 5

Place a tag, or a card, in the middle of the bucket.  I was going to make a tag for mine, but then I realized it would work just as well to put a sticker on the envelope of the card and slip it into the basket.

And your perfect Valentine’s Day present for guys is complete.

Man Bouquet

The Husband loved his man bouquet.  He had his favorite beer, some pepperettes and a bit of chocolate, all with a romantic touch.

With this Valentine’s Day over, now I just have to figure another DIY romantic gift for next year.

What will you add to your beer bouquet to personalize it for your guy?  Do you have any other DIY Valentine’s Day ideas for him?
