Whether you’re hosting a kid’s glamping party or are looking for glamping party ideas for adults and teens, here is everything you’ll need to plan an amazing glamping themed party.

In my last post about Lil Sis’s drive-in movie party, I talked about how I dropped the ball on the kid’s birthdays this year.

I didn’t order their Aliexpress lego sets on time.  All of the experience gifts they would like from my list of non-toy gifts were for places that weren’t open.  And I had no idea what kind of party we could be throwing during a pandemic.

While Big Sis has been loving our weekly virtual vacations, I knew she would love a real vacation even more.  That’s why a few weeks before her birthday I started looking into camping, thinking she might prefer a family vacation over a party anyway.

Of course, when I say camping what I really mean is glamping.  The idea of spending a weekend, or even a night, in a tent with no electricity with my kids does not appeal to me at all. Or to them.

When I found a nice two-bedroom cabin, with a bathroom, kitchenette and, of course, electricity, I asked her if she wanted to do that for her birthday this year.

She was thrilled with the idea.

Then I realized that this wasn’t just another birthday for her.  This was her thirteenth birthday. Becoming a teenager is a big deal, and needs to be celebrated.

So, I decided that even though we would be doing a vacation for her birthday, we would still throw her a party. A glamping themed party.

After searching through Pinterest, Amazon, Etsy, and more for glamping party ideas, I have put together a list of my favorites and came up with some of my own too. Here is everything I found, and what we ended up doing for our glamping birthday party.

Glamping Party Ideas

Indoor Glamping Party

Did you know you can rent individual glamping birthday party tents for kids (and from some places for adults)?

In the US the company Sweet Dreams Party will ship sets of little tents, air mattresses, and more nationwide.

Here in Canada there are a couple of glamping tent rental company options.  In Ontario Pop Up the Party rents out individual kid and adult size indoor tents or a large canopy for 6 guests.

Sleepee Teepee Party, with locations in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan offers individual kids size indoor tents, Teepee’s for two kids, adult size teepees, and even full-size outdoor glamping tents.

Is renting tents a bit out of your budget?

You can always make your own with this DIY tutorial.

Or if that’s too much work for you just pick up some bed canopies and hang them above some air mattresses to create your own simple individual glamping tents.

Even if you aren’t planning on having a glamping slumber party, you can still set up some indoor tents for decoration and a nice area for the guests to relax in.

Backyard Glamping Party

Looking for outdoor glamping tent rentals?

In the U.S. you can rent a tent from Life in Tents and have it shipped anywhere in the U.S.  Here in Canada, East Coast Glamping offers bell tent rentals that can be shipped Canada wide.

If that’s a bit over budget for your party, you could buy a regular tent and glam it up yourself.  Just place an air mattress in it for each guest, add in some cozy blankets and lots of pillows, then string some lights inside.

If you aren’t doing a glamping sleepover party, you could still set up an outdoor tent filled with cozy blankets and pillows for guests to relax in, or make a tent out of streamers like the one on this post from Green Wedding Shoes.

Campsite Glamping Party

If backyard glamping isn’t authentic enough for you then take your party to an actual campground.

There are lots of glamping campgrounds around Canada and the US that offer beautiful glamping tents.  Or, if you want all the comforts of home, many regular campgrounds rent out trailers or cabins.

We chose to go with the actual campground route and rented a cabin, which made for a beautiful backdrop for our glamping party.

Inside there was a kitchenette that had enough room for me to set up all the party food.  Outside we had a a patio set to eat at and, of course, a fire pit to relax by.

Glamping Party Invitations

Glamping Party Invitations

The first step of throwing a glamping party is inviting the guests.  Here are some ideas for camping and glamping party invitations.

Since Big Sis was only inviting her sister and one cousin to her party, I decided to just make my own invitations this year, which is included in the free printable set below.

Glamping Party Food

Glamping Party Food

If you’re having a glamping party you’re obviously going to serve s’mores.  But there are other camp foods you can include in your party too, like hot dogs and trail mix.

For our glamping party, we set up four food bars/stations for the kids.  One for drinks, one for hotdogs, one for trail mix, and of course one for s’mores.

Here is how we set each one up.

Drink Bar

Drink Bar

The drink bar didn’t require too much space, so I set it up on an end table and left it set up for dinner and snack.

To set up a drink station all you need is a variety of water enhancer flavors and water, sparkling water, or club soda to mix it in.

Since this was Big Sis’s 13th birthday I decided to make it a bit fancier and bought some plastic champagne glasses for them to make their drinks in and put a small bowl with some berries for them to add in too.

Hot Dog Bar

Hot Dog Bar

When I was looking for glamping party ideas on Pinterest I saw this idea for a Hot Dog Bar from The Country Chic Cottage and thought it would be perfect for a glamping party.

I bought small bowls and serving spoons from the dollar store for all of the toppings and condiments, and then a couple of big bowls for chips and a vegetable tray too.

I set up our hot dog bar inside the cabin so we wouldn’t have to worry about bugs, then I gave each of the kids a tray (also from the dollar store) so they could make their food and take it to the patio table to eat.

S’mores Bar and Trail Mix Bar

S'mores Bar and Trail Mix Bar

I also came across this idea for a s’mores bar and this idea for a trail mix bar on Pinterest.

For the s’mores bar I picked up 3-section trays for the chocolate and graham crackers and bowls for the marshmallows from the dollar store. Then I set out plates so the kids could grab their s’mores supplies and bring them out to the campfire.

If you’re having an indoor glamping party, or even an outdoor one but don’t have a fire pit, you can always roast the marshmallows on an electric s’mores maker like this.

For the trail mix bar I set out all of the ingredients in small metal flower pots I found at the dollar store and gave the kids plastic pedestal cups to fill up.

I also added a mason jar full of sparklers on one end of the table and one full of glow sticks on the other end.

Free Glamping Printable Set

Glamping Party Printable Set

While my birthday parties as a kid never had a theme or more than a few streamers and balloons, I have always gone all-out on my kid’s parties when it comes to decorations.  That includes printable food tags, water bottle labels, and more.

But when I looked for glamping themed printable sets, I didn’t find any free ones that I liked.  I debated buying some off of Etsy, but then I decided that this year I would try making my own.

You can download each printable individually bellow.  The food labels can be folded and placed in front of the food or glued onto a clothespin and attached to the food container.

Glamping Birthday Party Supplies

While plain pink and gold tableware and supplies go well with the printable set, if you want to stick with the theme and get glamping party plates, cups and napkins, here are all of the glamping themed supplies I found.

I figured since Big Sis was 13 this year, we would skip on the themed party supplies and just stick with pink and gold to make it more elegant looking.

We got plain pink plates for dinner, pink plates with gold dots on them like this for snack, and these pink napkins with gold “Happy Birthday” on them.

Glamping Party Decorations

Again, the pink and gold decorations look great with the printable set or there are all of the options below if you want glamping birthday party decorations.

Just like with the party supplies, we stuck with the generic pink and gold decorations to give the party a more elegant/teen party look.

Since it was Big Sis’s 13th birthday we had picked up this rose gold “Happy 13 Birthday” balloon set, but only had room to put up the “13”.  We also used a few of the other balloons and added a few other pink and gold decorations.

Outside we hung some light up balloons on the patio so we would still be able to see the decorations after dark when we were sitting at the campfire.

Glamping Birthday Party Games and Activities

While roasting marshmallows and telling spooky stories around the campfire is an obvious activity for a glamping party, that won’t keep most kids busy for too long.

Here are some other glamping party game and activity ideas for younger kids

While older kids may still enjoy some of the above ideas, here are some more tween/teen party ideas too.

Big Sis chose to play the Would you Rather and the Truth or Dare games for her party.  I also picked up some glow sticks and other glow toys to make some of the glow stick games for the kids to play once it got dark.

Glamping Birthday Party Favors

Spa Jar Party Favors

Now that you have lots of ideas for how to decorate for your glamping birthday party, plus what to eat and what the kids will do, let’s talk about all of the options for glamping party favors.

If you want to stick with the glamping theme you can use these Let’s Go Glamping favor bags filled with items like these

If you prefer to skip on the favor bag and just get each guest a small gift, you could make them each a “Glamping Squad” T-shirt

I veered off theme for our party favors and instead went with more of a teenager party favor idea and made each kid (and myself) a spa-in-a-jar.  Each jar had a travel size bottle of lotion, a mud mask, a manicure kit, a nail file/buffer, a bottle of nail polish, lip balm and a bath bomb, most of which I found at the dollar store.

While Big Sis wasn’t able to invite a bunch of friends to celebrate turning 13, she was happy to celebrate with her cousin and her sister.  The three of them enjoyed playing the games, making s’mores, and just hanging out by the campfire.

Not only was glamping a fun birthday party theme to plan for, but it made for a very relaxing birthday party too.

After planning two birthday parties, and a vacation, I’ve realized that I need to make more time to plan fun things to do with my family.  The distraction of planning parties was just what I needed to break out of my pandemic funk.

It may be a while until we can have a big party with lots of guests, but for now, I can still go all out and throw little parties for me and my family.

If you throw a glamping birthday party, let me know how it goes in the comments below or post a picture of your set-up on my Facebook post.  I would love to hear about all the glamping party ideas you use.
