About Heidi
I’m Heidi, a 40-year-old single mom of two living in Southwestern Ontario. My daughters, Brie (18), who has autism and developmental delays, and Zen (16), are a big part of why I’ve made so many changes for living a better, healthier, and happier life. I’m the creative, crafty type who loves house and holiday décor, party planning, crafts, and traveling (sometimes I enjoy the trip planning even more than the trips themselves).
Why I Started Mom Revamped

I started this blog in 2018 after my second stress leave from work. The idea of returning to the fast-paced, chaotic life I had been living didn’t appeal to me. Instead, I decided to focus on revamping my life—by prioritizing my health, happiness, and mental wellness—and to document that journey here.
Unfortunately, within a year of launching the blog, my marriage began to fall apart. My ex-husband’s mental health declined, and his behavior became increasingly abusive. That period forced me to see the reality of the emotional abuse I had been living with for years. As things worsened, I put the blog on hold. My focus shifted to researching abuse, and it wasn’t something I was ready to write about at the time.
A year later, after the marriage ended, I was left with severe PTSD. I was mentally broken—confused, disoriented, and unsure if I’d ever be able to write again. Healing became my full-time job. I completed DBT therapy, then two 12-week CBT programs (one for trauma, one for PTSD), attended counselling, and spent countless hours researching how to recover.
As difficult as that time was, it became the turning point for my life. I learned more about mental wellness and personal growth during those years than ever before. For most of my adult life, I believed I was living with depression and anxiety. Now, four years out of a long abusive relationship, I’m living the peaceful, happy life I longed for—free from depression and anxiety.

Here, I write openly about my experiences with and what I’ve learned about relationships—past and present—including efforts I made to work on my marriage problems, some advice some husbands need to hear, healing from abuse, navigating divorce, dating after divorce, and lessons I’ve learned for building healthy relationships.
